Position Summary:
This position is accountable to the CEO and is responsible for the overall people organizational strategy and execution. The HRD will work with the CEO to oversee all of the operational aspects of the Human Resources function across Talent Management, Talent Operations, Payroll & Benefits, Employee Experience, and Talent Acquisition. The HRD partners with other stakeholders to develop, deploy, streamline, and maintain policies, programs, and processes (across all areas of HR from recruiting, rewards, engagement, payroll, benefits, budget, and legal compliance). To spearhead DSI’s operational success, the HRD will also establish and sustain metrics that will be used to drive strategic decisions and measure progress against KPIs. The HRD must have a strong understanding of all Human Resources functions, as well as significant experience in managing and mentoring personnel. The position requires navigating relationships up and down the organizational structure, as well as mentoring and advising leadership and staff. The employee must have excellent communication skills, superior strategic and analytical thinking, exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong computer skills, and excellent knowledge of the HR landscape. Previous experience in the construction and utility contracting business is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Aligns with CEO to assist in leading the mission / vision of the company, making strategic HR decisions to execute the mission / vision
- Lead all HR functions including employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, performance coaching, compliance, employee engagement, policy implementation, and training and development
- Partner with business leadership to implement people strategies that are aligned with business goals
- Ensure strong people practices that meet the needs of an evolving workforce while managing costs
- Thought leadership and program management for leadership and development strategies, in particular management training programs
- Provide guidance to business leaders to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on people matters, which may include; culture, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, talent acquisition and development, employee engagement and retention.
- Create and consistently innovate policies, programs and processes to ensure they best serve the needs of the business
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters
- Act as a champion for DSI and foster company culture and values
- Cultivate a work environment that promotes great employee performance and positive morale
- Handle special assignments and other duties as requested by the CEO
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a similar field
- At least 7 years' experience in an HR leadership role, preferably in a high growth company and/or organization. Previous experience in the construction and utility contracting business, a plus.
- PHR/SPHR/SHRM Certification preferred
- Knowledge of employment laws required
- Results driven and a trusted partner; an individual who can produce outcomes and build credibility quickly
- Extensive experience in compensation and benefits as well as employee relations
- Able to quickly learn about DSI, our industry, people and culture
- Ability to present HR stats, facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
- Be a proven relationship builder, especially with senior leadership, and experience with coaching and developing management teams
